Making a false memory

I saw this video on TV a couple of months ago. It seemed like an old video I saw in the mid 1980’s. I couldn’t exactly remember it, but it seemed very familiar.

As I thought about it, I became more convinced that I remember seeing it. Imagine my surprise a couple of days ago to find that the band LCD Soundsystem did this song on a 2009 album “This is Happening.”

Wow, these are of high quality. What is most amazing is that it takes tunes that I loved at one point but had become tired of and makes them new and great again. It is a novel sound made from something that you know. A brand new tune for your ears made from overplayed songs. Wonderful.

This stop-animation of books on a bookshelf is pretty sweet. I love me some Rodrigo y Gabriela and I love how they list the books in the credits. Amusing.

So there is nothing special or unique about this beyond the pure awesomeness of a cheesy ABBA song/video. Luckily that is enough to carry it though.

I guess that if that really annoys you you could look at this video which is the exact same thing but in reverse. Some say that it improves it.

Huey Lewis (born Hugh Anthony Cregg III; July 5, 1950) is an American musician, songwriter and occasional actor. He sings lead vocals and plays harmonica for his band Huey Lewis and the News, in addition to writing or co-writing many of the band’s songs. The band is perhaps best known for their third album Sports and their contribution to the soundtrack of the 1985 feature film Back to the Future. Huey Lewis also played with the band Clover from 1972 to 1979.

And let us not forget: He achieved a perfect score of 800 on the math portion of the SAT.
